However, do you know about the illustrious personality which the name stands for – P.S.Govindaswamy Naidu (1856-1918)?

A Pioneering role

That was the time when the British were ruling our country. Coimbatore was yet to become the industrial and educational hub that it is today. This is where P.S.Govindaswamy Naidu and his family members played a pioneering role. He hailed from a simple agrarian family which also ventured into and established a flourishing cotton trade business. From using oil powered engines to tractors, the family was always game to trying new things, of course, backed by hard work. The family would subsequently establishing ginning, weaving and spinning mills.

Establishment of the PSG & Sons’ Charities

P.S.Govindaswamy Naidu’s sons, PSG Venkataswamy Naidu, PSG Rangaswamy Naidu, PSG Ganga Naidu and PSG Narayanaswamy Naidu, were instrumental in establishing the PSG & Sons’ Charities. The establishment of the entity makes for interesting reading. It is said that a British run school denied admission to a family member. Plus they also wanted to establish a school for those from the Peelamedu region. This was the trigger for the four brothers to establish PSG & Sons’ Charities. Its glorious journey started with the establishment of the famous Sarvajana School, way back in 1924.

Names such as PSG College of Arts and Science, PSG College of Technology, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, PSG Institute of Management, etc., to mention only a few, readily come into mind.
