Anyone who is well versed with Coimbatore’s geography knows that one of the prominent landmarks in the city is the G.Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, also referred to as GKNM hospital. The hospital founded in 1952 continues to set newer benchmarks with its world class healthcare facilities.

Textile and Machinery industry

Coimbatore has always been known for its dynamic entrepreneurs. G.Kuppuswamy Naidu is among the foremost among them. Just like the GKNM hospital, there is another name that should immediately ring a bell for those living in Coimbatore. It is the Lakshmi Mills Company.  This mill was established by Kuppuswamy Naidu, way back in 1910. In fact, it is considered one of the oldest textile mills in the country. The family would in later years establish LMW, the world famous textile machinery manufacturer to emerge from the city, as well as some really good educational institutions.  The mill was perhaps instrumental in showing the path for Coimbatore, subsequently becoming a global hub for textiles and textile machinery.

Medical service to the people of Coimbatore

Counted among the earliest entrepreneurs of our country, this doyen was among the earliest to put Coimbatore in the industrial map of India. One of his dream was to build a hospital, which was realized by his sons and brother, who established the G.Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital.

For example, we conduct different types of activities, for different age groups. Children are actively encouraged to do research on the leading personalities, who have contributed to different fields. Regular essay competitions are conducted.
