A new way of learning!! Yes, it is App based Learning. It won’t be a misnomer to say that the Covid-19 pandemic has completely revolutionized how kids learn. No longer do they go to physical schools. Instead their teacher comes to their home virtually. This has changed many perspectives and brought with it many advantages and of course a few minuses. Let’s have a closer look at them.
Makes learning fun:
With puzzles, cross words, riddles and their favorite cartoon characters teaching them, online learning is sure fun for kids. App based learning can be used to reinforce classroom teaching.
Student –teacher ratio:
This is another major advantage with app based learning. In a classroom the student-teacher ratio is usually such that a teacher cannot dedicate individual attention to a student, all the time. Whereas this is not the case with app based learning, where there is more one-to-one interaction and the teacher can focus on the learning of each student in a much better way.
Remote learning:
App based learning has made geographical barriers obsolete. A student could be in one part of the world and the teacher in another, and they can interact and a class can go on easily. The only thing needed is a steady internet connection at both ends.
Parents-teacher interaction:
Digital learning promotes better communication between the kids, their parents and teachers. In a brick and mortar classroom scenario the parents hardly meet their children, except a few times in a year. Whereas, with digital learning, parents are almost always connected with the teachers. They can always post their queries and get immediate response. This makes learning more focused.
Different perspective:
Digital learning offers students a different perspective, from which they are sure to benefit. With every information available at a click of the button, children too need to be sharp to assimilate all that information.
Self-discipline required:
While app based or online learning may offer lots of advantages, parents need to inculcate a sense of self-discipline in their children to ensure that they use their digital devices, only during the online class hours.
As one of the best CBSE schools in Coimbatore, we have made it a point to keep our students up to date and engaged with their lessons, through the online mode. It has been a different kind of experience for teachers, students, as well as parents. It has definitely further improved the teacher –parent connect. While online teaching cannot fully replace classroom teaching, it has the potential to reinforce what the student learns at the classroom. We will keep a close watch on the new trends emerging in education and come out with appropriate learning solutions in the future too.
